Questions We are Often Asked
Reaching out can often be difficult, but we invite you to find courage and let us help support you to a more fulfilling life.
Therapy is an opportunity for you to discuss/talk about matters that are significant to you, while having a qualified objective person (the therapist) assist in working through your past, current, and/or future situation. Therapy might be focused on a single issue or a group of issues. Therapy is a collaborative process that necessitates active participation from both the client and the therapist in order for change to occur. You may seek out a therapist for a variety of reasons, including stress management and/or difficulties related to a specific diagnoses. Some may seek help because of a traumatic experience, while others go to therapy because it offers a trained objective person to help you work through difficulties you’ve been battling with for years. Counseling can be effective because it can give you a sense of awareness leading to a sense of control over your life. Additionally, it can also offer you the skills and tools you need to make better decisions or changes for a more fulfilling life.
We recommend 6 weekly sessions for any individual that is a part of the therapeutic process. This allows sufficient time for you and your provider to establish a relationship and have meaningful change.
We process payments through all major debit/credit cards, including HSA cards.

The scope of treatment for mental health therapists/counselors is talk therapy. Typically, therapists have a Master’s degree and continue their study on an annual basis. Psychologists not only give counseling, but also conduct psychological testing for schools, courts, and other organizations. Psychiatrists are medical doctors who often limit counseling and talk therapy services and primarily provide medication management. If your therapist believes you may require medication, they will refer you to a psychiatrist.
The first session will be an initial evaluation in which your comprehensive background and treatment needs will be discussed. You will have the opportunity to observe how therapy works, and discuss privacy and confidentiality. By the end of the session, you and your therapist will identify or establish therapeutic goals to work towards. Although we love what we do and listening is a large part of our role, we also want to be sure you are able to work towards managing your distress and be self-sufficient.
Mental health issues can affect anyone, but increasing our well-being, resilience, and seeking treatment early can help to avoid problems from becoming serious.
